About SF State

SF State is one of the 23 campuses that make up the California State University (CSU) system, the nation’s largest institution of higher education. The approximately 141-acre SF State campus operates on a semester basis with major sessions taking place during the Fall and Spring semesters, and minor sessions during Winter and Summer. Approximately 5,000 people live on the main campus: this includes approximately 2,000 students in residence halls and 3,000 students, faculty, staff, and unaffiliated individuals in apartment units. The campus population is made up of approximately 30,000 students and 3,500 faculty and staff. On any given day when classes are in session, approximately 24,000 people are on campus.
